OMTM are a group of loose-fitting musicians centred around the songs and vocals of Kristian Saunders. Kristian brings the thunder to the mountains through his deep vocal delivery - echoed out of the valleys of his home in Wales - and dark and foreboding songs that resonate with a dark mythology of his own devising.

OMTM were born out of the darker side of storytelling in music and a love of performers such as Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, as well as the honest and open delivery by the likes of Gillian Welch, Blaze Foley and Emmy Lou Harris. The result is a form of Americana filtered through Black Sabbath / Sunn O))). Under the shadows cast by Covid, the band created a dark musical escape with a lyrical mythology that captures feeling irreverent, enraged, lost but not broken. OMTM are currently working on their live sound which will come like thunder to a town near you soon.

Release:

April 3rd 2023 marks the first release from ‘Our Mother The Mountain’ [OMTM] on Republic Domain records: “The Wilderness EP” - the demo version of a soon to be released EP called Blood and Bone.

The songs on the EP form part of a kind of folklore written from a dark dystopian world that Kris has created or dredged up from who knows where. The songs tell tales of glimpses of the myths and characters from a curious and shadowy place and each story draws the listener in deeper until they’re lost in the creative destruction .

Each song on the EP is very different in tone, matching the band that has been drawn together from disparate styles to weave a menacing soundtrack that carries Kris’s raucous delivery. Each musician adds their own dark palate to produce truly unique experience that leaves the audience gasping for more…

With a vocal delivery that will rattle your bones and lift your heart, Our Mother The Mountain provide a tumultuous sense of release on this track. This is the anthem for the broken low, a song fit for a junkyard choir.
